Harold G. "Shorty" Tott, 83, of 17892 Deere St., died Monday, March 13, 2006, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann, Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Private family visitation will be held.

Mr. Tott worked at the former Dubuque Pack Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1972.

He was born on May 3, 1922, in Edgerton, Minn., son of Hubert and Nellie (Nottebaum) Tott. He married Dorothy Powell on Sept. 17, 1941, in Dakota City, Neb.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was an avid Cubs fan. He loved playing cards, pool and gambling.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of Dubuque; his children, Sandra (Harry) Beversdorf, Carol Meyers, Lita Tott, Jerry (Lisa) Tott and Karen Tott, all of Dubuque, Diana Cooper, of Clinton, Iowa, Jack (Chris) Tott, of Bellevue, Iowa, and Debbie (Paul) Boge, of Mora, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Madsen, of Lincoln, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

Memorials may be given to Area Residential Care.
