Mrs. Bridget McCullough, Resident
Of Holy Cross for 58 Years
Passed Away

Mrs. Bridget McCullough, widow of the late Matthew McCullough, passed away yesterday at 1:30 p.m. at the old homestead near Holy Cross after an illness of one week. Mrs. McCullough reached the advanced age of 86 years and was in possession of her physical and mental facilities up to the hour of her death. Born in County Tyrone, Ireland, the deceased whose maiden name was Bridget McCrea, came to this country when a young woman locating in Pennsylvania. Two years later she was united in marriage to Matthew McCullough who came to this country in 1844 settling at Holy Cross, where the family has since resided. Mrs. McCullough was a woman honored and revered by everybody. The countless numbers who have been welcomed by her cheery presence in that hospitable home, where all received a hearty greeting, will indeed deeply regret her death. Her life was spent in dispensing charity and lending a helpful hand whenever it was needed. A devout Catholic she was one of the earliest pioneers to lend assistance in the erection of a place of worship at Holy Cross. Gathered about her in her last illness where those nearest and dearest to her and dearest to her when dissolution came she passed peacefully away.

Five sons and three daughters survive her. They are Patrick and Matthew, of this city, James, of San Francisco, Cal., and Michael F. and Charles, of Holy Cross, Mrs. W. D. Sheehan, of Des Moines, Ia., Sister Binvenueta O. S. B. and Miss Katherine of Holy Cross. Two daughters and two sons deceased, are Sister Flocello and Margaret and Peter and John. A sister and one brother also survive the deceased. They are Mrs. James Kearns of Holy Cross and J. McCrea of County Tyrone, Ireland.
