PIONEER RESIDENT IS CALLED BY DEATH

Mrs. Anna Friedmann answers final summons at home of daughter.

Has been Resident of Dubuque County for Over Half Century - The Funeral Wednesday

Luxemburg, Ia., April 29, - The residents of this community were stricken with sorrow Saturday, when they learned the news of the death of Mrs. Anna Friedmann, which occurred at the home of her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Froehle, at Cold Springs, Minnesota, wit Whom she had been making her home the past several years. Death was due to complications tributary to old age.

Deceased's maiden name was Miss Anna Gudenkauf, and she was born at Grevelding, Germany, on November 15, 1845, and was therefore 74 years 7 months and 8 days old at the time of her demise. At the age of four years she came to this country with her parents, and for a short time lived in Wisconsin, after which they moved to Luxemburg. Here she spent her youthful days an grew to womanhood. On January 9, 1866, she was united in marriage to Mr John A. Friedmann, the late Rev. Father Schulte officating. The couple had the distinction of being the first couple married in the new Catholic Church, the --- edifice of Luxemburg. After their marriage they went to house-keeping on a farm near Luxemburg and resided there until about twelve years ago, when they retired and moved to this place. On December 27, 1909 Mr. Friedmann passed to his award, and after his death Mrs. Friedmann went to make her home with her daughter, where she had been up to her death.

Thirteen children were born to their union, two of them Nicholas and Mary having died in infancy. Those who are left to mourn her lose are, Catherine, Mrs. R Pottebaum of Alton, Ia., Rev. John H. Friedmann at --, Iowa; Louise, Mrs. Frank Froehle of Cold Springs, Minnesota;__Louis A. Friedmann of Lovelock, Nevada; Anna, Sister Concordia, LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Lena, Mrs. Wm. Pottebaum, Orinet, S.D.; Theresa, Mrs. C.J. Ungs, Luxemburg; Mary, Mrs. _reeman, Selah, Washington; Margaret, Sister M. Anna, LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Rev. Peter J. Friedman, Gilbertsville; Cecelia, Mrs. Joe Theisen, of Luxemburg.

The remains arrived here from Cold Springs, Tuesday morning and were taken to the house of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Ungs, from where the funeral was held.
