Bertha E. Kaiser, 85, of 1610 Ashton Place, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with Deacon David McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

She was born on July 3, 1922, in Dickeyville, Wis., daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Renner) Hinderman. She married Donald R. Kaiser on Aug. 12, 1941, at Nativity Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on April 23, 2005.

She was a member of Nativity Rosary Society, Legion Auxiliary and Stonehill Auxiliary.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Ann (David Schmitt) Kaiser, and a son, Duane (Ann) Kaiser, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Julie (Robert) Pihart, of Minneapolis, Barbara Schmitt, Dan (Oliva) Schmitt and Julie Kaiser, all of Dubuque, and Keith (Joy) Kaiser, of Peosta, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Elliot, Ethan, Alexander, Sydney, Taylor, Gabrielle and Isabelle; a sister, Dorothy Bechen, of Dubuque; a brother, John (Mary Lou) Hinderman, of Dubuque; and four sisters-in-law, Kate Hinderman, of Florida, Fran Hinderman, of Platteville, Wis., Rita Hinderman, of Dickeyville, and Marie Hinderman, of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 60 years; her brothers, Karl, Ed Vincent, Al and Vern; a sister, Marie; and a grandson, Kevin Kaiser.

A Bertha E. Kaiser Memorial Fund has been established.
