Lorraine E. Haas, 81, of 139 Concord St., died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 1999, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road.

Mrs. Haas worked at the former General Dry Battery Company, the former Roshek's Department Store and the former Armstrong's.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1917, in Dubuque, daughter of Norman and Gertrude (Klonus) Tinkham. She married William "Bill" Haas on June 30, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo.; he died May 18, 1988.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1936. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Circle. She belonged to the Women's Christian Club and John Deere Retirees. She was an avid euchre player.

Surviving are a son, Jim (Lisa) Haas, of Palatine, Ill.; two daughters, Bev (Terry) Winders, of Louisville, Ky., and Carole (Jack) Heiderscheit, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Jason (Diana) Winders, Sara and Kelly Winders, Justin and Chris Haas, Jeremy Heiderscheit (fianc Michelle Ernst), and Josh and Jayme Heiderscheit; her sisters-in-law, Betty Tinkham, of East Dubuque, Ill., Delores Haas and Lorraine Haas, both of Dubuque, Florence Haas, of Upland, Calif., and Helen Keller, of Denton, Texas; many special nieces and nephews; many friends; a special friend, Goldie Harmon; and many special Concord Street neighbors.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Milton, Merlin and Ellsworth.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and to the American Heart Association.
