David F. "Man" Atchison 1929-2011

David F. "Man" Atchison, 82, of 860 Davis St., formerly of 2001 Rhomberg Ave., was called to be with his wife, Margo Atchison, at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 Kennedy Road.

Man was born on Feb. 11, 1929, in Dubuque, son of Fieldon and Christina (Haser) Atchison.

He married Margo Fitzgerald on June 1, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on May 13, 1998. In their last years together, Man and Margo loved to travel. Their favorite destination was Las Vegas.

He worked at the Dubuque Packing Co., until its closing, and then was employed at the Dubuque Greyhound Park.

Man loved to fish and hunt.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter, David (Judy Day) and Daniel (Susan) Atchison, both of Dubuque, Brian (Jodi) Atchison, of Jefferson, S.D., and Lindy (Jeff Wilson) Atchison, of East Moline, Ill.; four grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, Michael and Sophia; a brother, Fieldon "Bubbles" (Mary Jo) Atchison, of Dubuque; three sisters, Kathy Grimme, Marie Lorenz and Susan "Suzie" Lane, all of Dubuque; two brothers-in-law, Howard Lorenz and Chuck Lane; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Atchison.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Genevieve Meyer and Lucille Atchison; a brother, Dan Atchison; and three brothers-in-law, Elmer Meyer, Jim Sullivan and Clarence Grimme.

A David F. Atchison Memorial Fund has been established.
