The death of Mrs. Lurene Peaslee which took place at 7 o’clock yesterday morning was not an unexpected event by her family and friends. The allotted years of human existence had long been past and for several years it was apparent that the inevitable fate of all was awaiting the transit of another life to the shores of the Great Beyond. At the ripe age of eighty-six years Mrs. Peaslee passed quietly and peacefully to her final rest. She was born at Burlington, Vermont, in 1795, residing in the old home for a period of nearly sixty years.She was twice married and was the mother of nine children, among whom were the late Hon. Amos H. Peaslee, Mrs. McHenry, of this city, Mrs. Durkee, of Saratoga, N. Y. and Mr. Wade H. Eldridge, of Sabula, Iowa, remain to lament the loss of a devoted and beloved mother. The deceased was a lady of rare mental attainments, a true Christian and a faithful friend. Her life has been one of long and fruitful usefulness, and her loss is deeply deplored by friends and family.
