DEATH CLAIMS MICHAEL HENNESSY

Former Brother of Archbishop Hennessy

Michael V. Hennessy died yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock at Mercy Hospital. Death resulted from an attack of heart failure. For the past six months the deceased had been in failing health but his condition was not considered serious until a week ago when he was seized with a slight attack of heart failure. Wednesday he suffered a second stroke, from which he railed, but yesterday he received the third stroke, passing away at the hour mentioned above. Mr. Hennessy was a brother of the late Archbishop. He was born in Ireland and was about 62 years of age. When quite young he came to this country, locating in Dubuque. He was graduated from Harvard Law school and was a man of splendid literary attainments. His contribution to the North American Catholic Quarterly Review and to other magazines have ranked him among the literary men of the day. His memorable review on the life of Pope Gregory the Great was perhaps one of his best efforts.

Deceased his survived by one brother and one sister in Ireland and one sister in this city, Miss Ellen Hennessy. Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral Monday morning.
