Death Occurs at Daughter's Home Early Saturday After Brief Illness

Mr. Ambrose Hird Passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.E. Betts, 180 Bennett Street on Saturday at 9:12 o'clock after a brief illness caused by an aggravated case of bronchitis.

Mr. Hird was born in Yorkshire, England, sixty-five years ago, and came to this country when a young man. He located in New Diggins, Wis., where he resided for two years before coming to this city. He followed the occupation of miner for a number of years in .. mines around the city.

His wife and six children survive him. Mrs. A. E. Betts, John W., Ambrose Jr., Thomas, Mrs. J. Duggan, all of this city, and James of Pittsburg, Penn.

Mr. Hird was an honored resident of Dubuque and during his long residence here had made many loyal friends who will learn with regret of his demise. He was a highly respected citizen whose death is a loss to the city. The funeral services will be held from the home of his daughter on Monday afternoon at two o'clock.

The interment will be made in the Center Grove cemetery.
