Mrs. Elizabeth Hird

Mrs. Elizabeth Hird, 75, widow of Ambrose Hird, died at the home of her son, Thomas.1818 Asbury street, Friday morning at 1:50 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted at the home of her son Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after which the body will be taken to the Center Grove Methodist Episcopal church, where services will be conducted at 3 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Center Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Hird, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Heslop, was born at Swalesdale, England, Aug. 27, 1854, and when a child came to this country with her parents. They settled in Dubuque and she lived practically all her life here. She was married in Dubuque in 1873 to Ambrose Hird, who died 17 years ago. Mrs. Hird was an active member of the Center Grove Methodist Episcopal Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. L.A. Betts and Mrs. J.J. Duggan, both of Dubuque, four sons, John, Ambrose, and Thomas, Dubuque, and James, Akron, Ohio; one brother, Christ Heslop, Long Beach, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann McGovern, Mansville, Fla.; 13 grand children, and one great grandchild. One daughter preceded her in death.
