Dubuque Democratic Herald – June 7, 1865

A CHOWDER PARTY –The largest fishing party has been organized in the city for years will assemble at Eagle Point today. The arrangement s are extensive and complete. T. Levine, C. Gregoire and S. Cox took their fishing tackle yesterday and repaired to the spot to procure a supply of fish, and today they will be cooked. The ladies were invited with the necessary trimmings to make the feast palatable, and ample accommodations have been provided for them under a large tent. This will be the chowder party of the season, and all are welcome if they bring the “fixins.” Fish will be provided free .Eagle Point proper is where the river leaves the river for Lake Peosta.
