Helen M. Crahan, 84, of Bethany Home, formerly of 1794 Delhi St., died at 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Bethany Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Nativity Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a Nativity Parish Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1914, in Dubuque, daughter of William C. and Agnes (Ford) Crahan.

Helen was associated with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 45 years, serving as area supervisor for service observers for Iowa. She retired in 1979.

She was a graduate of the former Visitation Academy and attended Clarke College. She was a member of Nativity Parish, the Telephone Pioneers, Wa-Tan-Ye of Dubuque, and American Business Women's Association.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Crahan, of Dubuque, and Evelyn (Robert) Schwegman, of Dubuque; nieces and nephews, Suann and Tim Ryan, of Sacramento, Calif., William (Sue) Schwegman, of Dubuque, and Thomas (Andrea) Schwegman, of Davenport; great-nieces and nephews, Liam, Casey and Maura Ryan, of Sacramento; Nathan and Lee Schwegman, of Dubuque, and Jama and Julia Schwegman, of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, John and an infant brother at birth.
