A BEAUTIFUL MONUMENT – At the marble works of James & Bro., corner of 8th and Locust Streets, is an exhibition of number of beautiful monuments, among which is one of American marble, ten feet high with double granite base, and finely ornamented. It shows a fine sense of workmanship and skill in execution. It was ordered by Mrs. G. W. Cummins with the following inscription:
“My Husband”
G. W. CumminsLieut. Co. F. 37TH Regiment Iowa Infantry
Born in Jefferson County, Kentucky,
Died in Rock Island, Ill.,
Jan. 27, 1864,
Aged 55 Years.
