"Babe" Baumann, age 89, of Bellevue, IA and formerly of Dubuque, IA, was called home peacefully at 10:17 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Mill Valley Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Entombment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys was born on December 7, 1926, in Dubuque, IA, daughter of William and Josephine Catherine (Jaeger) Mai.

Gladys would spend the first 47 years of her life in Dubuque before eventually migrating slightly south to Bellevue with her family in 1973. She was united in marriage, to her one and only soul-mate, John A. Baumann on September 2, 1947 in Dubuque. They would be blessed with 46 wonderful years together, and three deeply adored boys, before he was called home on May 27, 1994. Gladys has been a longtime and faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellevue. Her mission in life was to love and nurture her family through each day and to make sure the four boys in her life always knew they had the most committed wife and mother directly by their side. Her abilities to make their house a home were both tangibly and intangibly visible for all to witness. She has now completed her earthly tasks and finds herself joyfully reunited with her husband, John, her parents and her siblings once again. We are surely saddened by her sudden absence in our lives, but joyfully find sincere appreciation in all the gifts she so willingly bestowed both in and upon us all during her 89 years here with us. God bless you Gladys and thank you for simply being you.

Those left to cherish Gladys' memory include

her three sons,
Richard "Dick" (Carol) Baumann, Sterling, IL,

and Bill (Nancy) Baumann, Bellevue, IA;

and her brother, Robert "Bob" (Ann) Mai, Dubuque.
