Dubuque Democratic Herald – Oct. 6, 1863

It is with regret that we chronicle the demise of one of our fellow citizens, in the prime of his life, Hugh Broderick. He was well known, having been employed as a drayman for a number of years, a better or truer man it would be hard to find. He was 28 years of age, leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. He will be buried this afternoon at 2 o’clock, from his late residence, corner of Main and Second Street. The remains will be taken to Table Mound for internment.
