Laid Away
~
The funeral of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Lagen’s little boy took place on Sunday afternoon. The little innocent was laid in the parlor in a chaste white casket, on a stand draped in white, all typical of the pure little soul that has gone to the arms of Him who said, “Suffer little children to come onto me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” But for the knowledge that it was death’s trophy it would have been a beautiful picture to contemplate. But that brought sorrow to the hearts of many who were there and tears came to the eyes of many when the father and mother and little brothers and sisters gathered around the white casket to see its folding covers conceal from them forever the face that they had kissed so often and loved so well. Amid tears and sobs it was done and the remains of the little one were borne to the hearse by the pallbearers, Masters C. D. Kelly, Willie Fitzpatrick, Willie Murphy, and Charles Wood. Services were held in the Cathedral, after which the remains were conveyed to Key West.
