FARLEY, Iowa - Betty L. Takes,87, of Farley, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Friends and relatives of Betty may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Reiff Funeral Home, in Farley, Iowa. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the funeral home.

Services for Betty will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Reiff Funeral Home, in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial was held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

Betty was born April 15, 1928, in rural Farley, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Elsie (Sternhagen) Stokes. She received her education in rural country schools of Farley. On March 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Takes in Cascade, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1980.

Betty was employed at the Ertl Company in Dyersville for 27 & 1/2 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, Iowa.

She is survived by nine children, Helen McKeon of Council Bluffs, IA, Shirley (Jim) Delaney of Dubuque, IA, Robert (Rita) Takes of Dubuque, IA, Lois Zapf of Farley, IA, Barb (Dan) Steffen of Farley, IA, Rita Takes of Asbury, IA, Irene Ehlers of Dubuque, IA, Martha (Dave) Timmer of Manchester, IA, Mark Takes (& fiancé, Patti) of Farley, IA; a daughter-in-law, Jane Takes of Anamosa, IA; a son-in-law, Jim Lehmann of Farley, IA; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and another one due to arrive in May.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Eugene Takes on February 24, 2001; one daughter, Mary Lehmann on June 12, 2002; one sister Helen Stokes; one brother, Marvin Stokes; one great granddaughter, Alexandria Grimes on Aug. 7, 2007; and a sister-in-law, Marie Stokes.
