Howard J. Wagner, 95, formerly of 2150 Yorktown Road, died Friday, March 4, 2016 at Hawkeye Care Center, Dubuque.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10 at the Church of the Resurrection. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road where a wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Howard was born on February 26, 1921 in Dubuque, IA the son of Arthur and Claire (Thielen) Wagner. He was a proud graduate of Loras Academy. On December 29, 1945 he married Patricia Hanley at St. Anthony's Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on May 22, 2004.

Howard was employed at Farley and Letchers for 22 years and as a bus operator for Key Line - City of Dubuque.
Howard volunteered at the City Mission and was financial secretary of Amalgamated Transit Union for 14 years.
He was quite the handy-man and enjoyed building and repairing around the house.

Surviving are his daughters Sara Murphy of Dubuque and Ann (Greg) Martin of McCormick, S.C.; grandchildren Pat (Kathy) Murphy and Emily Martin; great-grandchildren Kayle and Ryland Murphy; and sister-in-law Shirley Hanley.

He was also preceded in death by his son in infancy, Michael; son-in-law James Murphy; grandson Tim Murphy; great-grandson, Gavin Murphy; brother and sister-in-law Roger (Norma) Wagner; and brother-in-law Frank Hanley.
