Elizabeth J. "Betty" Leppert, age 88, of Dubuque, IA, was called home peacefully at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Stonehill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. To honor Betty's life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. Betty was born on June 4, 1927, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Benjamin and Marie (Hentges) Ernst.

Betty was united in marriage to Clarence J. Heim on April 24 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and their union was blessed with three beautiful children. She was later united in marriage to LaVerne Leppert on November 17, 1989, at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. They were blessed with almost 15 years together before he was called home ahead of her on November 4, 2004.

Betty was definitely a social butterfly and people person who graciously shared her gifts with others as a bartender and cook at Johnny's Tap and Grill. She was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Ghost Church and actively lived her faith through each and every day. Betty also contributed countless hours to helping the youth in our community with the Do It Yourselfers Club, which was the precursor to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed sitting down with family and friends to a good game of Bingo or Euchre, but without a doubt her greatest joy in the world was spending precious time with her deeply adored grandkids and great-grandkids. Betty has impacted the world around her in a positive manner for over 8 decades and her absence leaves a scar which only time and faith will heal. We will miss her dearly and thank God for the time He lovingly shared Betty with us.

Those left to cherish Betty's memory include
