Pioneer Resident Of Dubuque County Is Called By Death
(Dubuque,IA Telegraph Herald, July 10,1925)

A. J. Dunkley died at his home on the Union park road Thursday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock, following an illness of only a few hours.
Mr. Dunkley was born in Great Creaton, North Hamptonshire, England, May 2, 1847. At the age of seven he came to America with his parents and settled in Dubuque. He lived here for many years and was employed as a miner. Later he moved to a farm near Union park, where he had since resided.
He was married Dec 31,1878 to Elizabeth Blickmann(sic) who with one son, William, at home and one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Rittenhouse of Houston, Texas, a sister, Mrs. E. J. Ellwanger, and two brothers, James Street and John Dunkley, survive him.
The remains are at the Streuber chapel, where the funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be made in the family lot in Linwood Cemetery.
