Succumbs Following an Operation
~
Mrs. Caroline Beier, a resident of Lincoln Avenue for many years, passed away Sunday afternoon immediately following an operation which was found necessary after an illness of five days.
Deceased was born in Mecklenberg, Streitz, Germany in 1848 and in 1869 came to Dubuque. Her husband, the late August Beier passed away four years ago. Besides her brothers, Will, Fred and Charles Wendt, she is survived three children, George, Clara and Ida.

The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. There will be a short service at the house, 711 Lincoln Avenue, after which the body will be taken to St. John’s Lutheran Church where Rev. Bergstraesser will conduct the obsequies. The burial will be made in Linwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Beier will widely known in the north end of the city where she for so long made her home. She was a most estimable woman in all that the term implies, and her passing has cast a cloud over the entire neighborhood in which she had been such a prominent figure for so many years. Mrs. Beier was an indefatigable worker for the interests of the church with which she was associated, and her loss will be deeply felt in the fields where her labors had been so constant and faithful.
