Word has been received in the city announcing the death at Bankston of Michael Gilligan, a pioneer and highly regarded citizen of that place. Mr. Gilligan had resided near Bankston for over half a century and was a man held in the highest regard. His death has caused sorrow among his friends, who knew him as a most helpful member of the community during his long and useful life

Mr. Gilligan is survived by three sons, Frank, John and Michael, the latter of Dubuque, and by his daughters, Annie, Maggie and Katie, all of Bankston.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 o’clock at St. Clements Church in Bankston
