A Young Wife’s Death

Mrs. James A. Supple Peacefully Passes to Her Reward last Monday night the home of James A. Supple in this city was made desolate by the death of his young wife, Mrs. Teresa Supple, at the age of 28 years. Her last illness was brief, and her death was a shock and surprise to her husband, relatives and friends. A few weeks ago she contracted a severe cold which settled upon her lungs, and repeated efforts on the part of medical skill failed to neutralize the ailment which made gradual inroads upon her constitution. While for a week previous to her death her condition was alarming still it was believed that she might evade the dread summons, but the extent of the pulmonary disease was not fully reckoned, and she succumbed to the malady at a late hour Monday night.

Her death was a sincere shock to her wide circle of friends among whom she was most highly esteemed. The young husband and the motherless daughter of three months, deserve the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their inestimable
loss. There are many sad occasions in life and this is an instance of one of the saddest, where the young wife and mother, in the prime of womanhood, with future plans of happiness and hopes spread out before her, is suddenly taken from the circle of her loved ones. But the providence of God is the source of all wisdom and the destiny of man is to mourn, and to those who are deprived of their nearest and dearest treasures there is consolation in the thought that beyond and above there is a habitation of reunion, where sickness and death have no recourse.

Mrs. Supple's maiden name was Teresa Carrick, daughter of John Carrick, now a resident of Broadway, Linn county. She was born in Washington township, Jones County, July 23, 1871. Her mother died when she was quite young, and she continued to live on the farm with her father until 1895 when they moved to Cascade. On the 28th day of September, 1897, she was married to James A. Supple, of the firm of Dominy & Supple.

Her husband, infant daughter Mary Gertrude, father, and sister Mrs. Thomas Supple of Broadway, survive her. Less than ten months ago her sister, Mrs. Mary Carrick Kehoe, died at the home of her husband William Kehoe, near Broadway, and the rapidity with which the sisters, almost inseparable in life, joined each other in the spirit realm is remarkable. Mrs. Supple's mother was a sister of J. P., J. J., Thomas D., D. D., J. B. and Hugh Fagan.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Wednesday at 10:00 a. m., and requiem high mass was conducted by Rev. L. F. Roche. The pall bearers were: J. H. Devaney, T. H. McQuillen, J. M. Hayes, D. A. English, T. H. Glynn, D. D. Moore.
