EDWARD DELANEY IS DEAD
~
WELL KNOWN CITIZEN EXPIRES
THANKSGIVING DAY
~
The death of Edward Delaney, an old and respected citizen, occurred Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the family residence, 54 Fifth Street. Mr. Delaney had been ailing since last August, but was able to be about the streets till two months ago, when his condition became serious and he failed rapidly.

The deceased was a native of Ireland, where he was born 70 years ago. When a young man he immigrated to America, settling at Galena, Ill., later moving to Benton, Wis., and from there to Cuba City. About twenty years ago he retired and came to Dubuque, where he has since resided. Mr. Delaney was well known throughout Jo Daviess County, Ill., and southern Wisconsin, as well as this city, where he spent his declining years. He was a man of high character and has a host of true friends, who mourn the passing of a manly man. He was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and since coming to Dubuque had worshiped at the Cathedral. A wife and two sons, John and Edward J. Delaney, survive him.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock to the Cathedral, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated. The internment will take place in Mt. Olivet.
