Charles J. “Chuck” Neuhaus, 64, of Farley, Iowa and formerly of Earlville, Iowa, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Charles may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where awake service will be held at 4:00 p.m. , the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6:45 p.m., and at the Farley American Legion Service will be at 7:00 p.m.

Services for Charles will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller Presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Farley, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Farley American Legion Post #656.

Charles was born December 29, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of LaVerne and Marie (Kaiser) Neuhaus. He received his education at St. Joseph’s Grade School, was a graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School and also attended Kirkwood Community College. On November 27, 1982 he was united in marriage to Mary L. Dolan at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. He was employed with the Rural Electric Company “REC” for 37 ½ years.
He enjoyed being a Legion member, camping trips with his family and friends and especially enjoyed watching his two girls grow into beautiful women.
He is an Air Force veteran having served from 1972-1976, he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base as a Staff Sergeant.

He is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Farley, and at the Farley American Legion Post #656 for which he served as past Commander, past Vice Commander, past Sergeant of Arms membership chairman, past Dubuque County Adjuant and past County Commander.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Neuhaus of Farley, IA; two daughters, Beth Neuhaus of Farley, IA and Anna Neuhaus of Dubuque, IA; his mother, Marie Neuhaus of Manchester, IA; six siblings,Margie (Randy) Collins of Des Moines, IA, Joyce Neuhaus of Manchester, IA, Loras Neuhaus of Quasqueton, IA, Susie (Bill) Stock of Greely, IA, Wanda (Joe) Bolsinger of Greely, IA and Karen (Roy) Davis of Marengo, IA.

He is preceded in death by his father, LaVerne Neuhaus on June 12, 2003.
