CONDUCTOR DIES

Veteran of Days Before
Buses Here Succumbs

Frank D. Hynes, veteran Dubuque street-car operator and conductor, died at his residence, 630 Dodge Street, Sunday evening at 9:50 o’clock after a short illness.

The body may be viewed after 10 o’clock Tuesday morning at the Strueber Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held Thursday morning to St. Raphael’s Cathedral where a mass of requiem will be offered at 9 o’clock. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Hynes was born at Jenkinsville, Wis. He married Margaret Martin, of Benton, Wis., in St. Raphael’s Cathedral. He was employed with the transportation department of the Interstate Power Company for 22 years as a street-car conductor and operator. He retired when the present automobile buses were put into service.

He was a Catholic and an attendant of St. Raphael’s Cathedral. He was a member of the Holy Name Society League of the Sacred Heart, and St. Joseph’s Union of the Cathedral parish and of the street car men’s union.

He is survived by his daughter, Miss Loretta Hynes, Dubuque, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died Jan. 21, 1939, two brothers, and two sister.
