MRS. CATHERINE BARRETT

CASCADE, Ia. – Mrs. Catherine Barrett, 73, Cascade, Ia., died Friday at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Ia.

Friends may call at the Till-Didesch Funeral Home in Cascade.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Martin’s Church, the Rev. Daniel O’Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery at New Melleray, Ia.

She was a member of St. Martin’s Church, charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Cascade Post, and served as Auxiliary president for many years.

She was born at Toronto, Canada, daughter of James and Elizabeth Murphy Hickey. She was married to the late Dr. L. F. Barrett who died in 1943.

Surviving are six daughters; Mrs. Joseph Grace, Santa Fe, N.M.;, Mrs. Wally Gaddis, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Mrs. John Cox, Chilicothe, Ill.; Mrs. Elmer Schlemme, and Mrs. Joseph Schlemme, both of Cascade, Ia.; Mrs. Carol Hammond, West Covina, Calif.; one son, James L. Barrett, Carpentersville, Ill.; one brother, Joseph Hickey, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. James Markham, Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Charles Haddlesey, Oakland, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
