Herbert P. Appel, 57, of 300 Walnut St., Des Moines, formerly of Dubuque, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in Des Moines.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque.

Mr. Appel was a certified public accountant who practiced in Des Moines for 30 years.

He was born on June 3, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Herbert J. and Janice (Bardill) Appel.

Herbert graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1966, and the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1970.

He enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling.

Surviving are his mother, Janice, of Dubuque; and a brother, Brent, of Ackworth, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert J. Appel.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
