Roger R. Anderson, 73, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 2025 Jackson Street. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends may also call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to services.
Roger was born on May 28, 1941, in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., son of Raymond and Shirley (Domske) Anderson. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He married Sue Faherty on Sept. 26, 1970 in La Crosse, Wis.
Roger served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, then continued serving in the Naval Reserves as a machinist until retiring. He worked as a tool and die maker for John Deere Dubuque Works, retiring after 50 years of service.
He collected antiques and enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his sons. Roger was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by three sons, Jason (Wendi) Anderson, of Dubuque, Brian (LeAnn) Anderson, of Omaha, Neb., and Matt Anderson, of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Jessica, Elisha, and Hannah Anderson and Joshua and Evelyn Anderson; brother-in-law, Kim Sanford and nephew, Brad Sanford, of Dubuque; and his former spouse, Sue Smith, of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Judy in infancy, and Barbara Sanford.
