Albert L. Anderson, 86, of 3730 Pennsylvania Ave., Sunset Park Place, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 3200 Asbury Road. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from
4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.
Mr. Anderson was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 30 years until his retirement.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1921, in Dubuque, son of Clifford and Elizabeth (Brenke) Anderson. He married Elsie M. Ackerman on June 24, 1944, in Dubuque; she preceded him in death on April 1, 1992.
Al served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Postal Workers Union.
Al was a "river man" and enjoyed fishing, boating and being with his family.
Surviving are a daughter, Alana E. Anderson, of Antioch, Ill.; a son, James W. (Karen) Anderson, of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
