Memorial services for Kenneth D. "Ken" Amos, 78, 1965 Asbury Road, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road. His body was cremated. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Linwood Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

Mr. Amos worked at Interstate Power Co. for 45 years, retiring as chief engineer in the power plant. in 1981.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1917, in Bridgeport, Ill., son of Homer and Hazel (Hoffman) Amos. He died after a year long illness with cancer at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1995, at home.

He married Lura M. Keller on Dec. 22, 1937, in Clinton, Iowa.

He moved to Dubuque as a youngster and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1935. He then attended Rockhurst (Kan.) College. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, the Dubuque Noon Optimists Club, OX5 Pioneer Aviation Club of Iowa, the American Legion Dubuque Post 6, and a lifetime member of the Hawkeye Motorcycle Club.

Surviving are his wife, Lura M. (Keller) Amos; two daughters, Sharon R. Lemmer and Patsy A. (Brian) Vincent, both of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Dean and Julie Shaw, of Dubuque; a step-granddaughter, Hope (Keith) Brandel, of Dubuque; a great-grandson, Jennings T. Brandel, of Dubuque; and a brother, Arthur (Earleen) Amos, of Fort Worth, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Homer J. and Marvin M. Amos.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be given to St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Hospice of Dubuque County.
