Stacey J. Ament, 33, of Iowa City, and recently of Dubuque, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a courageous battle while waiting for a transplant.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1974, in Dubuque, daughter of Barbara Ament and David Ament. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1993. In 1997, she graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology.
She was employed as a coordinator with Systems Unlimited in Iowa City. She loved working with and helping the people there.
Stacey adored her cats, Oreo, Shae and Nikka. She had a passion for being an aunt to Adriel. She was devoted to spending time with him. Stacey's sharp wit and loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her mother, Barbara (Dale Meier) Ament, her father, David (Bert) Ament, and a brother, Kevin Ament, all of Dubuque; two stepsisters, Christina Welbes, of Dubuque, and Kelly Feehan, of Chicago; her maternal grandmother, Betty Duehr, of Dubuque; a special little nephew, Adriel Wheeless; aunts and uncles, Ann Duehr, Bev (Al Hinderman) Beireis, Bonnie (Wayne) Cook, Barney (Donna) Duehr, Bertha (Carl) Sarazin, Becky (Joe) Hohmann, Brenda (Duane) Kennicker, Bruce (Deb) Duehr, Bill (Janice, also Stacey's godmother) Huber, Debbie (Loras) Ernzen, Cheryl Ament, Chris Ament and Tom (Nancy) Ament; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ben Duehr; her paternal grandparents, George and Maxine Ament; an uncle, Roger Ament; and her godfather and uncle, Ben Duehr Jr.
Memorials may be given to the Stacey J. Ament Memorial Fund.
