Robert L. Troester, 67, of 13647 Sherrill Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at The Finley Hospital

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Sherrill, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Mr. Troester worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 28 years before his retirement.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1935, in McGregor, Iowa, son o fLouis and Alta (Anderegg) Troester. He married Lois Voshell on Oct. 20, 1962, in McGregor, Iowa.

He was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Sherrill. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob touched many lives throughout his life and will be missed by all who knew him. He served in the Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Lois (Voshell) Troester; two daughters, Tammie (Tony) Vargas and Tracy Troester, both of Dubuque; a son, Brian Troester, all of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Shane, Justin and Danielle Vargas, Robert Basten and Brandon Johnson, all of Dubuque; three brothers, Eldon (Lorna) Troester, Raymond (Janis) Troester and Lyle (Bonnie) Troester, all of McGregor; and two sisters, Alice (Rich) Staples, of McGregor, and Ruth (Larry) Weigle, of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Carl Troester.

A very special thank-you to Emil Herting and Louis Birkel for all their kindness and support to Bob throughout the years.
