Wilma E. Spear, 81, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Sherrill. Friends may call from 3 to 7 pm today at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road. Friends may also call Friday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Church.
Wilma was born on December 11, 1932, in Sherrill, IA, the daughter of Elmer and Lydia (Duerr) Wehrspann.
She married Thomas Spear on March 1, 1951, in Sherrill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1994.
Wilma was employed as a sale associate at Betty Jane Candies from 1968 until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years. She was also a member of the Mission Circle. As a member of the Mission Circle, she donated hundreds of quilts to Lutheran World Relief.
Surviving are her children, Debra (Rudy) Husemann, of Wheatland, IA, Kris (Terry) Kunkel of Nashville, Tenn., Thomas (Debra) Spear Jr., of Dubuque, and Ellen (Jeff) Hermanson, of Cedar Falls, IA.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Margaret Makovec, Lucille Reichmann and Alvina Timmerman.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Rick Spear; 2 daughters, Jackie Shireman and Cathy Spear; 2 brothers, Martin and William Wehrspann; and 2 sisters, Irene Beauchamp and Doris Wehrspann.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab and Mercy Medical Center, as well as Dr. Ries and nurses and staff for their wonderful care.
