Death of Little Frank Burton
~
Frank L. Burton, son of George Burton, died Sunday morning at the age of 12 years, 5 months and 19 days. Little Frank had been a great sufferer through weary weeks and months. For more than a year he had been obliged to forsake his books and his plans. Some three years ago he received a hurt from a playmate from which he suffered more or less, until a dropsical affliction seemed to be developing. The physicians and the family had battled unremittingly until a few weeks ago. It appeared to have yielded to treatment, and for several days he was out on the street and gave such evidence of returning life that hope was kindled afresh in the hearts of his doting parents. Alas, the delusion. A slight cold was taken, which settled upon his lung, and speedily was the work of the destroyer. Sunday morning he fell asleep as would a tired child in the arms of its mother and yesterday the laid his body at Linwood. Little Frank was a most noble boy. Possessed a winning manner and a nature to discern quickly the wrong, he made friends alike and young and old, and the large number who attended his funeral attested the worth of qualities which had early ripened into manliness. The words of sympathy which have been and will be spoken to the bereaved parents will not staunch the grief the grief fill their hearts, the pet of the household had fled and left a void that cannot be filled this side of the dark valley, but over and beyond there lies the beautiful and where death nor separation never comes.
