Nicholas Theis died Sunday morning at his residence, 585 West Locust Street, whence the funeral will be held Tuesday morning to St. Mary’s Church and the German Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Theis was born in Luxemburg October 15, 1822, and was one of the oldest residence of Dubuque, having come here in 1843. He was married to Catherine Hansen in 1857. His wife survives him. Of the nine children two boys died when young.
The surviving son is Nicholas, of Minneapolis. The daughters are Mrs. Joseph Traub, Mrs. J. M. Kenety, Mrs. T. J. Conlin, Mrs. McCenney, and two unmarried, all residing here.
Deceased had a paralytic stroke Friday evening which was the immediate cause of death.
