Evelyn Ivyl Winter, 82, of 2042 Deborah Drive, Dubuque, formerly of Bankston, Iowa, died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Luther Manor, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, Iowa, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Winter served as clerk for the town of Bankston and as a hot lunch cook for St. Clement's School.

She was born on May 7, 1921, in Lattnerville, Iowa, daughter of George and Annette (Moore) Schlosser. She married Sylvester Winter on Feb. 10, 1942, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lattnerville.

She received her education in the Peosta and Bankston area schools, graduating from Peosta High School.

She was a member of St. Clement's Parish in Bankston and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cherished her family very much.

She had a great sense of humor and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Baking also was one of her favorite pastimes.

Surviving are her husband, Sylvester "Butch" Winter, of Dubuque; seven children, Janice (John E.R.) Litsinger, of Kilmarnock, Va., Ronald (Carol) Winter, of Asbury, Iowa, Judy (Steve) Pitz, of Cascade, Iowa, Cheryl (Don) Klostermann, of Dyersville, Iowa, Sandy (Alan) Vaske, of Farley, Linda (Ed) Fischer, of Kalona, Iowa, and Randy (Judy) Winter, of Marion, Iowa; 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Gansen, of Epworth, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Leona Schlosser, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Schlosser; three sisters, Imogene Boyes, Adele Burns and Mary Lou Fitzgerald; and a granddaughter, Paula Pitz.

An Evelyn I. Winter Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Evelyn would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and the staff at Luther Manor, especially Misty Slaats.
