Paul F. Fuegen, 80, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Church of the Resurrection. Family will greet friends from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Rd. Entombment with Military Honors conducted by Dubuque American Legion Post #6 will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Paul was born Sept. 12, 1935 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of John and Cynthia (Budde) Fuegen. He graduated from Kimball High School and attended South Dakota State University before enlisting in the US Army 1957-1959. Paul married Carol Butlett on June 25, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He worked for Dubuque Pack for 31 years, retiring in 1998, and then started his retirement job at Walmart as a greeter for 10 years. Paul enjoyed fishing, walking and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol; a son, Steven (Alison) Fuegen of Hiawatha; grandchildren Addilyn, Joshua, and Ryan Fuegen; a sister, Dorothy Beschta, of Duluth, MN; in-laws Delores Fuegen, Shirley Butlett, Maggie (Mike) Wiegman, Dick Schuster, and Pete Schwartz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law Alfred and Gertrude Butlett; siblings Walter, Norman, Jack and David Fuegen and Leona Tripp; in-laws Eber Tripp, Clarence Beschta, Loretta, Hazel, and Gladys Fuegen, Viola (Victor) Thoma, Geraldine Schuster, Shirley Schwartz, Karen Butlett, Joe (Georgene) Butlett, Al Butlett, Leo Butlett, and Joe Hoyne.

The family would like to thank all the Hospice of Dubuque nurses, especially Dawn and Angela of Social Services. Also many thanks to Dr. Lawrence Kukla and his wonderful staff at the Oncology Department at Medical Associates. They were all so great to Paul.
