Carol Ann Connolly, 63, of Sunnycrest Manor, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Sunnycrest Manor, Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Placid, Iowa. Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m.

Carol Ann was born May 7, 1949, in Dubuque, daughter of Joseph A. and Ruth R. (Wilkinson) Connolly.

She attended school in Iowa City and Epworth, Iowa, and worked at the Vocational Services Center in Dubuque. She moved to Sunnycrest Manor in 1981, where she was the recreation coordinator assistant.

Carol Ann was an avid Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed music, family gatherings and being in charge. Carol was a very happy, upbeat person for all life dealt her.

Surviving are her sisters and brothers, Helen (Leo) Kennedy, of Dubuque, Gary (Julie) Connolly, of Epworth, Iowa, Roger Connolly and Mark Connolly, both of Dubuque, and Linda (Randy) Liegel, of Plain, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Brad) Franzwa, Joe (Alana) Kennedy, Shannon (Jeremy) Parrish, Ann (fiancé, Brad Dauderman) Kennedy, Kari (John) Feldmann, J.J. (friend, Alicia Koch) Connolly, Alicia (fiancé, Nic Butzier) Connolly, Melissa, Ryan and Tara Liegel; great-nieces and nephews, Claire and Nate Franzwa, Sydney, Peyton and Brady Kennedy and Brody Parrish; many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and her family of staff and residents of Sunnycrest Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruth Connolly; maternal grandparents, Nellie Burds and Robert Burton Wilkinson; paternal grandparents, William and Mary Connolly; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial fund in Carol Ann Connolly's name has been established.

The family would like to thank Carol's doctors and nurses at Dubuque Internal Medicine, especially Dr. Garrett Ridgley, The Finley Hospital and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Barb; Sr. Margaret Anne, St. Anthony Parish and the staff at Vocational Services Center. Thank-you to Betty, Madalyn, Doris, Joan and Marla for helping keep vigil the last week. A very special and heartfelt thanks to Carol's Sunnycrest family, which includes staff and residents. Carol received excellent care and was loved by many. God bless all.
