Services for Cyril A. "Cy" Callahan, 89, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 781 Cleveland Ave. will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Cathedral.

Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray, rural Peosta, Iowa. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a Power of Prayer rosary at 2:30 p.m. and a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Callahan had owned a Phillips 66 Service Station for 25 years and the Callahan Dry-Ice Co., for 27 years.

He was born on May 29, 1906, in Bernard, Iowa, son of Michael and Mary (O'Regan) Callahan. He died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1995, at Stonehill.

He married Marcella McCullough on June 14, 1932, in Bernard.

He was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral, where he was an usher for many years. He also was a member of the Cathedral Holy Name Society, the Dubuque Genealogy Society, the Dubuque Business and Professional Men's Association, the Knights of Columbus Council 510, the Power of Prayer, and the board of directors of the Dubuque Rescue Mission. He was very active and a founding father of the Dubuque's South End Club, where he served as its honorary mayor. He was widely known and one of Dubuque's most beloved citizens.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Heinz, of Dubuque; three sons, Donald J. (Pat) Callahan, of Palm Springs, Calif., Michael C. (Sharon) Callahan, of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Dennis P. (Marguerite) Callahan, of Bloomington, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Irene Kennedy, of Farley, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (McCullough) Callahan, on July 19, 1963; an infant son, Joseph, in 1935; a sister, Grace O'Brien; and three brothers, Walter, Ralph and Jerry Callahan.

Memorials may be given to St. Raphael's Cathedral and Stonehill Care Center.
