PEOSTA, Iowa - Alvin Francis Brehm, 41, of Mount Carroll, Ill., formerly of rural Peosta, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Savanna, Ill., with the Rev. Wayne Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, and after 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Services will also be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Melleray, rural Peosta, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, rural Peosta.

Mr. Brehm worked as a job counselor for the JPTA Office in Savanna since 1990. He formerly worked at Metform, Savanna.

He was born on Sunday, Dec. 27, 1959, in Dubuque, son of William A. and Ivadell "Ivy" Brehm. He married Susan M. Haring on Oct. 15, 1988, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Savanna.

He graduated from Western Dubuque High School, Epworth, with the Class of 1978. He also graduated in 1982 from Loras College, Dubuque. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he was financial secretary of the church council. He also sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Loras College Alumni Association. He like to read and spend time with his wife and daughter.

Surviving are his wife, Susan, and his daughter, Florence, both at home; his mother and father, William and Ivy Brehm, of Peosta; five brothers, Merlin (Sharon) Brehm, of Savanna, Patrick (Sheila) Brehm, of Peosta, Philip (Kay Ann) Brehm, of Footville, Wis., Cletus (Diane) Brehm, of Zwingle, and Lyle (Jenny) Brehm, of Dysart; and 13 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his mother-in-law, Joan Haring.
