Ernesto Arredondo, 49, of 1835 Lincoln Ave., died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray, rural Peosta, Iowa.

Mr. Arredondo worked as a diesel mechanic at Truck Country in Dubuque. He was fascinated by "gadgets" and would figure out how things worked. He was a perfectionist at his job, it would be done right.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1955, in Valley de Santiago, Mexico, son of Ernesto and Juana (Mosqueda) Arredondo. He married Wendy L. Farni on Dec. 26, 2000, in Mexico.

Ernesto's greatest joy was to spend time with his wife and children.

Surviving are his wife, Wendy; a son, Nicholas A. Arredondo, at home; a daughter, Marissa A. Farni, at home; his father, Ernesto Arredondo, of Valley de Santiago, Mexico; six sisters and five brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wendt Regional Cancer Center, 350 N. Grandview Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Hermann and Dr. Baer and the nurses and staff of the Wendt Regional Cancer Center and Finley Hospital for their care and concern for Ernesto and the family.
