NEW VIENNA, Iowa - Edna Dorothy Ahlers, 80, of New Vienna, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, after a brief illness.

Memorial services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 23, 1921, in New Vienna, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Burlage) Ahlers.

She was an administrative assistant in Chicago for many years until returning to New Vienna in 1981.

Surviving are a brother, Francis "Prete" Ahlers, of New Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Eugene, Elmer, Irvin, Alois and Albert Ahlers; six sisters, Marie Ahlers, Germaine Ungs, Isabelle Donohoe, Verna Kruse, Juliana Ahlers and Esther Ahlers.
