Katrina Lynn "Katie" Howes, 15-year-old daughter of Michael and Kelli (Eberhard) Howes, of 2451 Roosevelt St., died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Asbury (Iowa) Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Katie was born on Oct. 13, 1983, in Dubuque, daughter of Michael and Kelli (Eberhard) Howes.

She was a student at Hempstead High School and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, drama, writing poetry and the outdoors. Katie loved children and was a A-1 baby-sitter and also volunteered at Heritage Manor. She loved animals, especially her pets, "Maggie Mae" and "Sadie Bug." Katie loved life, and in death she is giving life through the organ donor program.

Surviving are her parents Michael and Kelli Howes, of Dubuque; a sister, Nikki Howes, at home; paternal grandmother, Gertrude Howes, of Dubuque; maternal great-grandmothers, Darlene Correl, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Donna Brandenberg, of Fredericksberg, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Cheryl Kramer, of Cedar Rapids; maternal step-grandmother, Jan Eberhard, of Peosta; maternal grandfather, James Eberhard, of Peosta; three uncles, Ron Howes, Don (Dawn) Howes and Terry Benda; and four aunts, Deb Johnson, Becky Clark, Kris (Greg) Schadel and Kerri Crane.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Harold Howes.

In lieu of flowers, a Katrina Lynn "Katie" Howes Memorial Fund has been established.
