Randy L. Maas, 37, of 1897 Chaney Road, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Grace Baptist Church, 3966 Asbury Road, with the Rev. Bob Harbin officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a Resurrection Parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on March 21, 1971, in Dubuque, son of Martin and Linda (Haas) Maas. He married Penny Watters on April 22, 2000, in Dubuque.

He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1989.

He was a member of Resurrection Parish.

Randy was employed as a journeyman carpenter with Zephyr Aluminum Products for the past six years and was a member of Local 678 Union for the past eight years.

He was indeed a carpenter in the truest sense of the word. Randy was a very hard worker, and through the years, he remodeled several of his own homes and built some amazing and beautiful woodworking items. He loved NFL football and was a true blue Cowboys fan.

Randy loved his friends and family, most of all his young son, who was his little buddy. He will be sadly missed by all the family and friends he leaves behind.

Surviving are his wife, Penny, and seven-year-old son, Nathan, both of Dubuque; his parents, Marty and Linda Maas, of Dubuque; his sisters, Amy (Jim) Clemen, Jenny (Dave) Schwarz and Heather (Jason) Kretz, all of Dubuque; a brother, Jeff Maas, of Dubuque; his maternal grandmother, Blanche Haas, of Dubuque; his mother-in-law, Shar (Ted) Walker, of Glendale, Ariz.; his stepmother-in-law, Debra Watters, of Maquoketa, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Adam (Jodi) Watters, of Gilbert, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Haas; his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Marie Maas; and his father-in-law, Jim Watters.
