Annetta M. Miller, 89, of Luther Manor, formerly of 2489 Hempstead St., died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Asbury (Iowa) Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends also may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1916, in Lattnerville, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Nettie (Wels) McGrath. She married Arthur J. Miller Sr. on Feb. 17, 1938, in Lattnerville; he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1986.

She was a longtime very active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and greatly enjoyed participating in church activities.

Although small in stature, she was not afraid to stand up for causes she believed in. She found great joy throughout her life playing euchre and she passed her knowledge and love of the game to her children.

Annetta was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother who brought great joy to all whose lives she touched. She was the driving force that inspired all of her children to achieve success in life. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are four children, Arthur J. Jr. (Sally) Miller, Dr. Robert M. (Janice) Miller, Nettie Ida (John) Combs and Charles M. (Marie) Miller, all of Dubuque; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert, in infancy.

Memorials may be given to Luther Manor and St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

The family would like to give thanks to her wonderful friends at Luther Manor for their loving care. The family also would like to give a special note of thanks to Buelah Buelow, her sister in spirit, whose love and companionship was a great comfort to Mom throughout her life.
