MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. - Robert "Bob" Lowell Wagner, 90, of Mount Carroll, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Freeport Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Visitation will be after noon Friday in the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1924, son of Walter Webster and Hazel Mae (Frederick) Wagner in Savanna. On Aug. 7, 1949, he married Martha Jean Castle, of Savanna; they honeymooned in Chicago and then drove to Niagara Falls.

Bob was an Army veteran of World War II, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart.

He grew up under his father's tutelage where he learned about cars, working for his father at Carroll County Auto Sales, and eventually taking ownership when his father passed in 1965.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Martha; his three daughters, Roxanne Elliott, of Mount Carroll, Heidi (Tim) Wright, of Davenport, and Wendy (Tom) Bahl, of Cascade; six grandchildren, Robert, Rachel, Raegen, Jeramy, Rorrie and Hollie; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Behling, of Texas; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Vickie Wagner of Dubuque.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
