Paul J. Becker, 61, of Dubuque, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Heritage Manor. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 3, at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Gary Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Dubuque American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

He was born on April 7, 1949, in Dubuque, son of James G. and Elizabeth A. (Burbach) Becker. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Wahlert High School, the University of Dubuque and Northeast Iowa Community College. Paul served four years in the Navy. After the service, he was employed by John Deere Dubuque Works. He was a member of the UAW Local 94. Surviving are three sisters, Mary (Dennis) Blondin, Diane (Pat) Droessler and Carol (Jim) Geronzin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Becker; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins; and good, loyal friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James A. Becker. A Paul J. Becker Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank all of Paul's family, friends and health care professionals for the care, love and support they gave to Paul.
