John "Jack" Becker, 65, of Cedar Lake, Ind., formerly of Dubuque, died of an apparent heart attack Monday, March 16, 1998, in Cedar Lake.

Services were held Thursday, March 19, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Cedar Lake, with burial in Holy Name Cemetery.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1933, in Dubuque, son of Herbert and Lorraine (Cushing) Becker.

He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School and Dubuque Senior High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 261, of Cedar Lake. He also was a caller and dancer with the Buttons and Bows Square Dance Club for 35 years.

He married Betty Kaprocki on July 28, 1952, in Oceanside, Calif.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; three daughters, Tina (Richard) Bonesteele, of Crown Point, Ind., Jackie (James) Kimes, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Carol (Kurtiss) Manley, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sons, Dan (Diana) Becker, of Crown Point, and Joe (Jenny) Becker, of Cedar Lake; 21 grandchildren; his mother, Lorraine, of Dubuque; four sisters, Patricia Schnee, Bonnie (Gerald) Roussel, Lynn (Robert) Jochum and Jolene (Bruce) Drapeau, all of Dubuque; and two brothers, Donald (Barbara) Becker and Robert (Carol) Becker, both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Becker, on June 2, 1996; and his father, Herbert Becker, on June 11, 1976.
