Marcella C. Becker, 82, of 3099 Kane Court, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1919, in Dubuque, daughter of John N. and Frances (Stoeffler) Boet. She married Francis Becker on Oct. 12, 1940, in Dubuque; he died on Feb. 12, 1988.

Marcella was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a devoted volunteer to many of the parish activities throughout her life. She was a former member of the parish council, president of its rosary society and a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Marcella was an avid bingo player enjoying many of the local bingos. She organized and instituted bingo at St. Mary's parish, as well as being instrumental in organizing bingo at the Boys Club. She was a good mother and a loving grandmother. She was a very generous and giving person and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are three sons, Richard (Merle) Becker, of Yuba City, Calif., Francis (Jill) Becker, and Tom (Joann) Becker, both of Dubuque; a daughter, Patricia (William) Schiesl, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve (Leroy) Ludwig, of Hayward, Calif.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lindsey Becker; two brothers, John and Ted Boet; and a sister, Veronica Reiter.

A Marcella Becker Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. Manzel, Dr. Loukinen and their nurses for their care and support.
